I’m the first to admit that fashion doesn’t come naturally to me. I’ve always liked what I like, from my emo phase in school to my magpie-esque obsession with all things sparkly when I was going on nights out at uni. Nowadays I like to rock a more casual look, but since becoming more involved in blogging (and reading others’ blogs), I’ve started enjoying being more aware of the clothes I put on everyday. A way of jazzing up a basic outfit that’s come quite easily to me has been whacking on an accessory or two, so when JewelleryBox.co.uk got in touch wanting to collaborate with me, I was so excited!
Jewellery Box is an online jewellery shop based in London that has been around since 2014, offering ‘real jewellery at costume jewellery prices’. Seeing such affordable prices raised some red flags, as I have sensitive skin and I didn’t want to bother with any faux silver jewellery that would turn my skin green in a matter of days; however they are certified as an Assay Assured Jewellery Retailer, which was very reassuring to see. They also have over 10,000 pieces of jewellery available in sterling silver and 9ct gold, with something for every budget. I was honestly so impressed!
The lovely folks at Jewellery Box very kindly let me choose a few of my favourite jewellery items and popped them in the post for me to wear and review. They arrived super quickly, safely packaged and — brilliantly — presented in fully recyclable cardboard gift boxes for a cute, kitschy look. Here’s which pieces I chose:
Jumping the gun a little bit with seasonal style, I chose these gorgeous studs in a pretty snowflake design. Despite being so petite, the crafting of the design is extremely delicate and defined with a strong, study butterfly back. They are also a really clean, bright sterling silver, which is a great material for those with allergies or sensitive ears — you don’t often get that for a modest price tag! They make a statement without being too gaudy, and I know I’m going to get a lot of wear out of them over — dare I say it? — Christmas!
Small Sterling Silver Heart-Shaped Locket with Aquamarine Floating Charm | £27.00 + £3.55
I think a locket is such a classic jewellery piece, and I’d never seen a locket with this concept before so I knew I had to have one! The floating charm lockets come in different shapes and sizes with lots of additional charms to choose from — I went for the smaller heart-shaped one and the aquamarine birthstone charm.
The locket is heavier and a bit chunkier than I expected, but extremely pretty nonetheless and clearly well-made and robust. The chain is extremely thin and delicate, and can come in a variety of lengths which you get to choose from upon ordering; it did get a little tangled in its gift box but it was easily sorted! The sterling silver is beautifully shiny, and the charm is really petite with a gorgeous colour and shine. Overall I think a locket like this would make a really lovely gift for someone special — your mum, your best friend, your girlfriend — and I may have to order a couple more charms to change between day-to-day!
I have a nose stud and a belly bar with aurora borealis-style jewels which I adore, so I couldn’t resist these earrings when I spotted them. The jewel is pretty much clear and cut into multiple facets that reflect in different colours when the light catches them — just like its namesake, the Northern Lights!
The earrings are smaller than they appear, but I like that better than I thought I would because they’re so delicate and dainty. The stone has a beautiful shine to it and adds a lovely pop of colour to an otherwise understated accessory. They’re so pretty and sophisticated and I’ve received lots of compliments when I’ve worn them! Unfortunately I have lost one (boo!) but I may have to purchase another pair because I like them so much!
I wouldn’t normally go for a bracelet like this, but it was so pretty I couldn’t resist. It’s so simple and delicately made, but I feel it could really make a statement with the right outfit, casual or formal. It’s definitely in line with the current minimalistic trend and would fit right in as part of an Instagram flatlay (if only I knew how to make them look decent!). It even comes in different colours (hello rose gold!). I think it would make a fab stocking filler or Secret Santa gift as it’s barely a fiver!
I think JewelleryBox.co.uk is a website that every avid accessoriser needs to know about! The website is super-easy to navigate and so aesthetically pretty, with lots of categories and styles, making it a doddle to find what you’re looking for. With such a great price range, there’s something suited to every budget, so you won’t have to break the bank to purchase a pretty and effective addition to your style. I’ll definitely be using it in the future, especially for Christmas gift inspiration, and I can’t believe I hadn’t heard of it before!
