Since about the age of thirteen, doing my makeup in the morning has been part of my routine. That means for the past ten years, while at school, uni, and now before a working day, I’ve been honing the skill of natural makeup, No Makeup makeup, “My Face But Better” makeup. As I’ve got older I’ve become so much more confident and almost competitive in how many colours I can fit on my face, but weirdly something about a fuschia pink lip and an intense glitter eye doesn’t exactly scream professional when you’re serving people coffee for a living.
As an rabid collector of lip colours, I’ve got plenty of zanier shades in my arsenal that probably don’t receive the love they deserve, so I’ve picked five for this post that look fierce AF but wouldn’t have flown when I was at school! (#downwithdresscodes!!)
One of my favourite formulas (I seriously have so many shades in this range); a super pigmented liquid lipstick in a deep turquoise shade.
Makeup Revolution Amazing Lipstick in ‘Serpent’
Cheap as chips and really creamy, but slightly lacking in staying power and pigmentation, Serpent is a shiny emerald green shade. It’s no longer available, but Stargazer do a similar shade for a couple of quid extra (shade 137).
A really bright glitter-berry shade, this formula applies and dries more as a gloss than a lipstick, leaving a super shiny finish.
A budget-friendly alternative to Kylie Jenner’s Dead of Knight, this liquid matte needs a couple of layers but dries to a jet black matte. Click here for my full review.
A gorgeous bronze shade from MUA’s new metallic matte range. I was expecting more of a lip topper formula, but it is instead hyper-pigmented with a super thin application. I absolutely love it, and will be reviewing this and one other shade soon!
What daring lip shade do you love to wear?
