Wishlist: 10 Autumn Favourites

With the arrival of autumn comes an onslaught of spending. I can imagine my debit card trembling when I take it out of my purse, worn out from being shoved head first into yet another card reader: ‘Please, no more… you already have seven chunky knit cardigans!!’

Okay, exaggerating slightly, but what’s a girl to do, hmm? As soon as the nights start drawing in earlier, I’m ready, pulling on my knee high buckle boots, last year’s roll neck tops and woolly tights and marching straight down to the shops to see what my favourite highstreet stores’ A/W collections have to offer this year. Spoiler alert: there’s a loooot of burgundy.

Grey Distressed Skinny Jeans | Primark | £15

Enlarged photo

I’ve been trying so hard to resist the ripped jeans trend out of principle (they often cost more for essentially less material… what’s up with that?!) but I’m in the market for a new pair of denims and I just know I’d be pulling these on all the time. An oversized sweater and my battered black Converse and I’m sorted.

Calico Print Frill Hem Babydoll Blouse | Romwe | £8.64

I’ve never actually bought from Romwe, but I’d definitely be tempted to after seeing this lovely blouse (and lots of other really cute things) on their site. I’ve heard lots about their sizing issues and I’d be skeptical of how accurate their pictures are to the product on offer, but let’s put these to one side and just appreciate this blouse for a sec. It’s so adorable. I just want to chuck if on with a pair of skinnies and some ankle boots.

Suedette Ring Detail Hobo Bag | Matalan | £18

I have been after a decent hobo bag for, like, ever, and I think I may have finally found The One. I love that it’s suedette material as the feel of that fabric just screams autumnal to me, and I feel like the tassel and ring details take it up a notch. It would be perfect on the arm of a big chunky knit. (*It also comes in burgundy, which as we all know is the Queen of Autumn Colours!)

Black Strap Cut Out Boot | Primark | £16.00

Honestly? I already have enough boots to be getting on with. Knee highs, to ankle, to heeled: I’ve got the whole set, and I simply don’t have room for another pair. But, I hear you whisper, these aren’t really boots, they’re a bit like shoes and you don’t have anything like this in your wardrobe! Well, my friend, you had me at hello. These shoes/boots/things are the perfect hybrid of edgy and cute for me; I’d wear them all the time, whether with thick knee socks or woolly tights and mini skirts, or skinnies and ankle socks. They’re shouting all kinds of Clueless vibes at me.

Mono Tweed Pelmet Skirt | Warehouse | £36

Warehouse, MONO TWEED PELMET SKIRT Black Pattern 1

Speaking of Clueless, is this not the most adorable yet sophisticated tweedy masterpiece you’ve ever seen? In case you couldn’t tell, I’m very excited about this skirt, so much so that I might actually splurge on it (I know £36 isn’t that expensive, but help me, I’m poor). Looking at this just makes me wanna sling on a cosy roll neck top and some Docs and read a classic novel amongst the falling leaves in the woods with some hot chocolate and Bon Iver playing inexplicably in the background.

Contrast Aviator Jacket | Boohoo @ ASOS | £55

I don’t usually go all in for jackets, but holy moly. This jacket kiiiiinda made me believe in love at first sight. I’m a little obsessed. I just love the look of the material, especially that snug sheepskin-looking lining — imagine how gorgeously warm and cosy you’d be in that! I’d just need to dig out my old tartan scarf and I’d be good to go.

Green Check Shirt | Primark | £7

Enlarged photo

Perhaps the most ridiculously affordable item on my wishlist (and therefore the one that will almost definitely make its way into my wardrobe) is this shirt. A checked flannel shirt is the ultimate Basic Bitch Autumn EditionTM essential, and legend has it that some of them even act as a Portkey to a remote cabin somewhere in the snowy foothills of the Tumblr mountain range. I actually really like the colours of this one, because you see a lot of forest green or navy blue, but never khaki, in my experience anyway. It’s a little different and I like that.

Jimmy Choo Eau De Parfum | Jimmy Choo @ Superdrug | £44

I got a sample of this fragrance in my goody bag from the CaBella Boutique event a few weeks ago, and after getting round to trying it, I’ve kinda sorta maybe definitely declared it as my new favourite fragrance. It’s described as being fruity with ‘warm, rich, woody depths’, the latter of which I think must be why it’s made my Autumn list. Just a li’l sprinkle on my wrists and neck and I’m feelin’ cosy and feminine all day whenever I get a whiff of it. Definitely going on my Christmas list if I don’t get round to buying it sooner!

Black Cord Pinny | Primark | £12

Enlarged photo

Yet another Primark number, I know, but let’s be honest: they always knock it out the park with their A/W collections. Something in me cries out for corduroy as soon as it starts getting cooler, and a little pinafore like this is an ideal overlap from the dungaree dresses trend of the summer. Again, for me it’d be all about funky tights and chunky knit tops underneath, finished with a choker and a nice big shiny pair of Mary Janes.

Cosmic Paisley Velvet Jacket | Monsoon | £89

And lastly we have the item I am most obsessed with but am least likely to afford. But isn’t it gorgeous? Velvet comes second only to corduroy in my book, and I adore the pattern and the colours and just UGH. I’d sling it over my Little Black Dress on cooler nights for a touch of something unusual. I know it looks like an old man’s smoking jacket, but weirdly enough I think that’s why I love it so much. Brb setting up a GoFundMe page xoxox
