Even though it’s just another day of the week, it just doesn’t feel like Christmas Day without a bit of glitz and glam. Every year, after opening our presents in our pyjamas with a bacon sarnie, my whole family but my mum and I in particular will get all dressed up just to stay indoors and eat ourselves silly at Christmas dinner. It’s a special day for treating your loved ones and spending time with them so why not add a little sprinkle of charm?
For makeup, I have kept it simple but elegant with a deep pink lip, champagne highlight and a dramatic flick. I have also used a lightweight foundation and concealer to ensure comfortable but flattering coverage throughout the day’s festivities. It would be easy to dress up this makeup look even more with a vampier lip, warm eyeshadow and wispy false lashes.

Now for the outfit choice. It’s hard to strike the right balance between sparkly-chic and comfortable enough to eat a Christmas turkey and as many trimmings as possible, but I think, with this two-piece, I have managed it.
The Black Metallic Sparkly Wide Leg Co-Ord in ‘Bear’ has become one of my favourite party outfits since it was kindly gifted to me by Femme Luxe Finery. The set consists of a high-neck crop top with long baggy sleeves, slitted until the elbow; as well as belted, full-length, fit-and-flare trousers, both in a thin knit, sparkly black material.
It’s super comfortable and stretchy, making it perfect for curling up after dinner with a full food baby but also looking put-together if needed. We don’t tend to leave the house on Christmas Day, but I know some families do venture into the wilderness for some event or other, so this would not look out of place at a Christmas party. The only downside is that it is a little see-through but I wore a nude bra and a pair of cycling shorts underneath which added more modesty. I wore this outfit to my friend’s birthday party recently and I have never received so many compliments on my clothes! For someone so hopeless at putting clothes together, I felt almost fashion-savvy in this get-up.
It is not the most versatile outfit as it is not exactly casual, but it isn’t gaudy either for a full glitter get-up. The glittery aspect toes the line between spangly and subtle and looks so sophisticated on the dark black background material. I wore it recently with a pair of scrappy black sandals, but I kind of wanna invest in a pair of Abba-esque black suede boots and pair it with my faux Mongolian fur gilet for a funkier vibe.
What do you like to do on Christmas Day? Do you go out or do you stay in? Tell me about your traditions!
